The Grade V Parent Walk-In at Suncity School 37D brought SDG 13: Climate Action to life through an engaging, student-led learning experience!
The journey began with a melodious musical welcome, followed by a vibrant Corridor of Learning, where parents explored subject stations, hands-on models, and projects that showcased how classroom learning comes alive through Design Thinking, the 4Cs—Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking and Creativity—and Project-Based Learning.
Seismograph – showcasing scientific inquiry and understanding of natural phenomena
Rainwater Harvesting Model – exploring sustainable solutions for water conservation
Taj Mahal Symmetry Patterns – connecting Mathematics with art, architecture and visual thinking
Greenland Projects – exploring geography, climate and the relationship between people and their environment
Pattachitra Art & Young Authors’ Corner – celebrating creativity, expression and interdisciplinary learning
Robotics Corner – highlighting innovation, problem-solving and creativity
Parents then explored Climate Action across subjects and experienced how learning can build awareness and encourage responsible choices.
English: A lively Newsroom Play highlighted rainforest conservation and biodiversity, followed by a Slogan Writing Activity where parents shared their messages for a greener future.
Hindi: The Nukkad Natak – ‘Aravalli Bachao’ highlighted environmental concerns while creatively integrating formal and informal letter writing.
Science: An engaging experiment brought the concepts of global warming and greenhouse gases to life, helping students demonstrate how trapped heat contributes to rising temperatures.
Mathematics: Students connected averages and temperature data with real-world climate patterns, showing how numbers can help us understand environmental changes.
Social Studies: Aboard Flight 5-GEO, parents travelled through Saudi Arabia, the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Prairies, exploring the connections between climate, landscapes, wildlife, livelihoods and cultures.
The Parent Walk-In beautifully reflected how curiosity sparks inquiry, inquiry builds understanding, and understanding inspires action.
When children lead the learning and parents become part of the journey, the classroom truly comes alive!
