Languages and Cultural Connections on European Day of Languages

Our school participated in a vibrant Virtual Immersive Meet to celebrate the European Day of Languages, bringing together students and educators from India, Portugal, and Croatia. The session provided our students with a wonderful opportunity to experience the richness of languages and cultures beyond the classroom.

The virtual interaction was joined by Ms Alenka Taslak from Osnovna škola Dore Pejačević, Našice, Croatia, and Ms Manuela Correia da Silva from Agrupamento de Escolas Dr. Manuel Gomes de Almeida, Portugal. The engaging conversation encouraged students to explore language learning as a means of communication, cultural exchange, and global connection.

Our Grade VIII students studying French, German, and Spanish enthusiastically participated in the session. They introduced themselves and interacted with the international participants using the languages they learn at school. The students also shared simple sentences, greetings, and salutations in different languages, while learning a few expressions from Portuguese and Croatian.

The meet was an enriching experience that went beyond textbooks and classrooms. It helped students appreciate linguistic diversity, develop confidence in using foreign languages, and understand how languages can connect people across geographical and cultural boundaries.

The event beautifully reflected the spirit of the European Day of Languages — celebrating multilingualism, cultural diversity, and the joy of learning languages.
